“For since the creation of the world, God’s invisible qualities – his eternal power and divine nature – have been clearly seen, being understood from what has been made, so men are without excuse.” Romans 1:20
Commentary: The Apostle Paul is making a statement here that is fundamental in our understanding of man’s response to God. What he says is this: inherent in every human heart is a sense of the reality of God. All anyone has to do is look at the vastness and complexity of the created world to know there is a Creator. Atheists can use all the arguments they choose, but they are only suppressing the truth that deep down they know of God’s eternal power and divine nature by seeing the world he has made.
Man cannot use the excuse of ignorance when he stands before God in judgement, because from the reality of the created world he knows there is a God. We can choose to seek Him or to ignore Him, but we can give no excuse if we choose the latter.
Prayer: Almighty, Creator God, Thank you for giving me the ability not only to see your marvelous creation, but also to know that You are the power and genius behind it all. As I see the majesty and grandeur of what You have made and marvel at the complexity of your creation, may I remember that it is revelation of your power and glory.
May I acknowledge You as the Master Designer and the Great Builder of all that I survey. Thank you for the faith that enables me to give You the credit for creating the universe that I am able to enjoy. In Your great name I pray. Amen.
