“Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ and you will be saved.” Acts 16:31
Commentary: One of the great demonstrations of what saving faith is like is the “empty chair” illustration as taught by EEIII International. An empty chair is placed in the center of the room. The presenter asks the person they are sharing the gospel with if they see the chair. Then they are asked, “Do you believe it exists?” After the answer, “Yes!”, the question that follows is: “Do you believe it would hold you if you sat in it?” The next question is, “How can you prove it?” The obvious answer is, “By sitting on it.” The personal decision comes when the presenter says, “Have you ever gotten out of your own chair and placed your trust on Jesus Christ for eternal life?” The presentation clearly visualizes that we have to transfer our trust from our own good deeds and rely on Jesus Christ for our salvation. If we do, we can have the assurance that we are saved from God’s wrath and saved to an eternal relationship with Him in heaven.
Prayer: Heavenly Father, Thank you for making a way for me to be saved. Help me to understand that eternal life is not trusting in myself or even my faith, but trusting on Jesus and relying solely on his life and death to be the perfect sacrifice for my sins. May I each day lean on, and depend on Jesus, as my Lord and Savior. In His name I pray, Amen.
